The amount I spend on delivery food is like my phone’s “screen time” notification: I do not, under any circumstances, want to know. So long as the card keeps working, we’re all good here — no need for further information.
However, some people can’t fight their curiosity. They simply must know how much money they waste paying $10 delivery fees on a meal that’s only a five-minute walk from their apartment. In the case of Nashville-based Twitter user Jason Steen, that number was $25,000 in one year.
“just exported my #DoorDash data to confirm, and i spent $25K last year just on that,” he wrote in a tweet in which he seems to be trying to be relatable? In conclusion, he asks, “how is anyone living on $40K/yr?”
I really find this stat hard to believe... just exported my #DoorDash data to confirm, and i spent $25K last year just on that... how is anyone living on $40K/yr ? https://t.co/tFpS2UA2xG pic.twitter.com/I9D2n7ewPK

Really quick, to answer his question: “Not spending the cost of a new Honda Civic on food delivery.”
Twitter users weren’t so much taken by the fact that Steen spent an average of $70 per day on DoorDash — well, yes they were, but also exactly what he spent that money on. For example, if this data is correct, he spent over 3k on Chili’s alone. He also spent more than $1,500 getting Hooters delivered, which is… a choice.
Surprisingly, one of the places he spent the most money was a restaurant called “Miss Ashley’s Tearoom,” which isn’t a front for a brothel but instead a lovely little tea shop in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Of course, Twitter wasn’t content to let this man enjoy his mountain of terrible takeaways. Instead, they looked into his past and, wouldn’t you know it, over-using DoorDash isn’t the only irresponsible financial decision he’s made.
just found out the guy who spent $25k in doordash is being sued for allegedly stealing tens of thousands in wages https://t.co/IZNDuo9qtw pic.twitter.com/WiRRkC5CMD

In January 2021, Steen was accused of illegally withholding wages and creating a “toxic work environment.” The case was later dropped because the state couldn’t get in contact with him (you can do that? Just not answer the phone and win a court case? Saving that info for later).
But Steen wasn’t content to (allegedly) withhold payment once. He was later arrested for not paying a mover. It seems this guy just hates paying people — unless they’re bringing him a Chili’s Double Old Timer Burger with Cheese.
So what’s next for Steen? Cracker Barrel, apparently. Let’s just all quietly pray for his colon.
