An El Paso resident who lost his wife in the recent mass shooting that rocked the town and left the nation reeling has invited the public to attend her funeral services, as he has no other family left to mourn alongside him.

Antonio Basco spent 22 beautiful years devoted to his wife, Margie Reckard. "When I met her she was an angel and she still is," he explained in an interview with KFOX14. "I was supposed to be the strong one, but I found out I’m the weak one, and she’s going to be missed a lot."

Basco went on to speak about his wife's kind heart and how they'd planned to spend their lives together. "We were gonna live together and die together. That was our plan."

Perches Funeral Home, where Reckard's services will be held, posted to their Facebook that Basco was opening the funeral up to the public since he "had no other family."

As heartbreaking as this story is, there is some good that came from it, as that post inspired a flood of sympathetic comments from all around the globe.

It's things like this that give me hope in our darkest hours - the knowledge that for every sick, twisted piece of s*** out there with no regard for human life, there are thousands of kind, loving strangers ready to restore your faith in humanity.
