In a stunning throwback to pre-internet times, and in what is perhaps a Sex and the City reference, a New York woman has put flyers up around the city warning other women away from a man she went on a date with.

The sign opens with the heading “BROKE SCAMMER” in all caps, so you know it’s going to be good. Attached are two screenshots from the man’s Bumble profile. The sign then states, “NYC women be careful, ‘Dr.’ [name has been redacted] meets women on dating apps and then dines-and-dashes at the end of the date.” It ends with, “Stay safe, protect your coins ladies!”

Now, to be clear, the ethics around making signs like this (and someone then posting them online) probably aren’t great. Being stuck with the bill isn’t fun, but neither is going viral online for being a “villain” and having your real life impacted as a result.

The Twitter user who posted the poster did so in order to crowdsource opinions on what zodiac sign the woman responsible for them has. Thanks to the power of the internet, the woman saw the tweet, and was able to reveal that she is a Taurus sun, Aries moon and Leo rising. Good for her?

She also shared more details on what precisely went down during her ill-fated date with the doc. He fled the scene while she was in the bathroom, after they’d stayed until closing time and arranged a second date.

This woman isn’t the first to put up signs warning people about men, and she certainly won’t be the last, although many just take to Facebook or Instagram these days — papering your neighborhood shows a serious level of commitment.

Other Twitter users shared examples from their own neighborhoods, including one flyer about a man who uses dating apps to “cajole lonely people into investing their personal wealth into his ‘ice rink for dogs’ business.”

Suddenly, getting stuck with the bill at dinner doesn’t sound so bad after all.
