Great news for everyone who gets the heebie-jeebies from the thought of navigating empty rooms, abandoned offices and let’s be real, the hallway of eBaum’s official spray tan place (the only thing scarier than timeless voids is looking orange): A24 and a bunch of other media companies are coming to rock your shit.

Earlier this week, A24 announced that it would take a break from being aesthetic, reviving beloved middle-aged actors’ careers and serving as the lone topic of conversation among condescending film bros flirting with people *way* out of their league to detail their latest endeavor, a feature film based on 17-year-old YouTuber Kane Parsons “Backrooms” series.

Based on Parsons’ viral videos, which largely depict the various monsters and other terrifying oddities lurking amid endless labyrinths with terrible, terrible fluorescent lighting (maybe the real villain is — and always has been — T12 lightbulbs) A24 will work with Atomic Monster, Chernin Entertainment and 21 Laps on the flick. The script set to be penned by DMZ showrunner Roberto Patino, with the teen serving as director.

Despite this dream team of Gen Z horror,  it seems backrooms fans will probably have to wait sometime before catching the terror of yellowing walls on the big screen, as production won’t start until later this year, coinciding with Parsons’ summer vacation.
