What’s the worst possible song you can think of to listen to while having sex? CBAT? The national anthem? The entirety of the CATS soundtrack? It’s a difficult question, but one that famed DJ Diplo has been attempting to answer by curating his own “Worst Songs to Listen to During Sex” playlist.

Sharing this playlist during an appearance on the Throwing Fits podcast, Diplo revealed that the first song on there is “Angel” by Sarah McLachlan, which would undoubtedly kill the vibe instantaneously and only cause wetness via tears.

Next up is the Reading Rainbow theme song, which makes sense — children’s television doesn’t exactly set the mood, let alone educational children’s television.

Sticking with the theme of theme songs, he’s also included the Wii Sports theme song, which I argue could actually be quite motivating if you played it at the beginning and treated everything thereafter as competitive sport.

“Cotton Eye Joe” was another selection. Although it does have a decent beat, it’s too ridiculous to listen to while trying to do the nasty. Other songs featured on the playlist include “Yo Ho! (A Pirate’s Life for Me)” from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, the Kidz Bop version of Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop,” the theme song from That’s So Raven and “Taps.” Yes, that “Taps.”

Diplo also revealed that he has actually tried to have sex to the playlist — while on mushrooms, of course. “I finished it,” he said, though it’s not clear if by “it” he means the sex or the entire 30-plus song-long playlist. The latter is obviously much more heroic, if not necessarily harmonious in the musical sense of the word.
