As smartphones have become ubiquitous — and more expensive — it’s no surprise that many cities have witnessed an incredible growth in phone thefts.

While some cities have tried to crack down on this behavior, at some level, there’s just not much you can do. Phones are generally small, so as soon as someone nabs one from your hands, shoves it in their pocket and disappears into the crowd, there’s not much you can do to get it back.

That may be why some people are turning to their own form of justice, like this woman in Argentina who decided to respond to the phone theft problem by slamming the alleged thief over the head with a chair.
