25 Reactions to Scientists Trying to Feed Us Cockroach Milk

We’re all going to try it, but you first.

The Pacific Beetle is one of the only cockroaches that doesn’t lay eggs, but instead gives birth to live young. The beetle carries them in her brood sack, secretes a yellow, milk-like liquid, which then crystallizes in the stomachs of the offspring.

Researchers in India have discovered that the milk is three times more nutritious than the milk of a cow, so it may be a new superfood in the future, if we can ever get over the fact that this stuff is collected by slicing open the stomach of a pregnant cockroach.

The dairy aisles and ice cream parlors of the future will replace their cow mascots with brown little roaches, get excited!
