We've grown to accept a lot of things we never would have before; commercials in streaming platforms we pay for, microtransactions in automobiles we've purchased or randomized, casino-style rewards in already-expensive video games, and plenty of other dirty business tactics.
Things that we know are pretty dirty. But there are a lot more otherwise "common" features of the modern marketplace that are, when you think about it, really scummy.
