The last Boeing 747 has been made and sold, and will take flight with Atlas Air as the final queen of the skies. The first Boeing 747 made its inaugural flight in 1970, and since then it has been the most recognizable commercial aircraft.

Although the Airbus A380 surpassed the 747 as the biggest passenger jet in 2005, the 747 has remained an aviation icon, and marvel of engineering.

Jumbo jets are unfortunately going the way of the dinosaur, as modern aviation trends push for smaller and more fuel-efficient aircraft.
