Toddler Throws Titanic Themed Birthday Party a Week After the OceanGate Catastrophe
Children’s birthday parties – events defined by cake, presents and determining whether you’d live or die as a passenger on the Titanic.
Days after the disappearance and implosion of OceanGate’s Titan submersible dominated headlines – and every single goddamn conversation throughout the continental U.S. – TikTok mom @thescallywagfam offered a glimpse at her young son’s aptly themed Titanic-themed birthday bash.
Expertly toeing the lines of “too soon?” and “oh hell yes,” the throwback snaps depicted a party that would make even Rose Dewitt Bukater weep tears of envy, an event complete with a Titanic-shaped pinata, a fruit-filled watermelon cut to look like one half of the ill-fated ship as it sank into the Atlantic Ocean, and color-coded goodie bags informing each guest of whether they survived the passenger liner’s demise.

“Remembering the time my 5 yr old had a Titanic birthday party and wanted “educated gift bags,” she quipped of the party, a shindig objectively more exciting – and less deadly – than their OceanGate counterpart. As @pinkpicasso12 so aptly put it – “make sure he doesn’t get ahold of 250k.” -
