Watch out Marvel fans, James Cameron is back baby!
"Boom Boom Pow" by the Black Eyed Peas was the number song on the Billboard Top 100. 'Jersey Shore' had its debut season. And James Cameron's 'Avatar' was the talk of the town. The year was 2009.
Now nearly 13 years after its release, 'Avatar' has a sequel trailer. I'm older, I'm wiser, I have a wife and a mortgage. But 'Avatar 2: The Way of Water' trailer has finally dropped.
"I know one thing. Wherever we go, this family is our fortress." The only spoken dialogue in the entire trailer.
Don't get me wrong the cinematography and special effects again look amazing. The scenes look very pretty. That's kind of all we can gather from this teaser. The James Cameron hype train is pulling out of the station, but it's hard to say who's jumping on.
In 2009 'Avatar' stunned audiences including the academy winning 3 oscars; visual effects, cinematography, and art direction. So where do we go from here? 13 years is a lifetime in terms of putting out a direct sequel. Does James Cameron still have some magic left? I guess we have to wait until December to find out.
