While we may not know what happens when an immovable object meets an unstoppable force, we now do know what happens when a glass ball shot from a cannon meets yet another glass ball shot from a cannon: A whole lot of fire and shrapnel. 

Back in February, science YouTube collective How Ridiculous headed to social media with an answer for the burning question we didn’t know we had, setting up two parallel cannons, loading them with a glass cannonball, and igniting the fuse.

While, as predicted, the pair of balls sailed through the wintery air, their collision was far from anything they could have predicted, producing a spark in freezing cold temps before shattering into a million pieces.
