If you’ve been around the internet for a while, you might have seen one of the several lawn-care specialists who go around fixing up people’s yards and sidewalks for free; in return, they can make content doing it and promote their business.

This is pretty nice and wholesome — and, apparently, it’s made Johnny Law furious.

In a recent video, TikTok user Kai (@compilationsir) says that he was detained by the police after he decided to help an 80-year-old woman clean her sidewalks to avoid paying a fee to the city.

The problem? The city apparently already had a contract with *another* lawn-care business, and by doing it himself (even for free) he was allegedly violating city code. As a result, he was detained, though he was later let off with a warning.

That said, Kai says he’s going to go back over the weekend and complete the job — and good for him.
