'She Smells Really Bad’: Tennis Player Calls Out French Opponent for Not Wearing Deodorant
I’m not saying she’s right, but I’m not saying she’s wrong.
I don’t know why this is the case, but the Europeans just aren’t as concerned about cleanliness — or at least, the *appearance* of cleanliness — as us Americans. Don’t believe me? What if I told you that half of Dutch people don’t wash their hands after they poop? Crazy, right?
For the French, that number is 62 percent — higher than the Dutch, but still not great. Despite being the home of perfume, they really don’t have a reputation for great smells, and local news outlets still feel the need to put out English-language articles saying that French people do actually shower.
Are articles like that correct? According to tennis player Harriet Dart, maybe not, as during a recent match against a French opponent, she claimed that her opponent stunk so bad she had to ask the ref if she could put on deodorant.
She has since apologized.
