Shoe Salesmen Explain How Far They Have to Go to Stop Bots
If you’ve tried to buy a concert ticket in the past few years, you know just how bad the bot problem has become.
As reselling has become a popular industry for scalpers and webstore owners, people have taken it upon themselves to develop advanced bots that will pick up every version of an item that they can, only to dump them back onto the market at a grossly inflated price.
Store owners can work to combat this, but there’s not that much incentive for them to do so. After all, the tickets are still getting purchased — what does it matter to them if the face behind the checkout page is actually a series of Chat GPT-generated codes?
This shoe seller decided to combat bots by putting shoppers through a series of tests, and yet, some still got through.
