Skier Falls Down Massive Ice Cave, and Miraculously Survives

French skier, Les Powtos was gliding across the soft powdery snow atop a glacier, and enjoying a breathtaking panoramic view of the frozen tundra. Moments later, he was free-falling down the inside of an ice cave. Quick thinking and sheer luck combined to save his life, as he dug his skis into the side of the ice cliff face, coming to a precarious halt.

Skiing off the beaten path is dangerous, and just earlier this month a viral video of a skier rescuing a buried snowboarder was shared across the internet. But Les's brush with death was even closer.

"Would love to see the footage of you getting out of there," one person commented. Many people agreed.  "Glad it ended well but…. we need to see how you got out." Some people wondered if he even had. "For all asking he is still there," one person joked.  "He's still stuck there, just browsing IG." A different viewer had a theory. "According to the comments," he said, "pick axes and crampons which he happened to have in his backpack and a piece of rope his friends used to help him. Never go out on your own." No matter how he got out, Les is one lucky man to still be alive, and posting on IG.
