This Is the Insanely Complicated Way a Chinese Calligraphy Brush Is Made

See, I’d just use a pen.


Way back in the day, we used to write stuff down by carving it into stone tablets. This sucked for a variety of reasons — it took forever, and if you made a mistake, you not only couldn’t fix it, but your error would be carved in stone for literal centuries so that future historians could mock it.


Now, societies around the globe have advanced onto easier methods of transcription. Still, some enjoy the more classic way of doing things. For example, many languages that use complex characters can be, and often are, written with a brush.


Not just any brush, mind you. In order to create the perfect calligraphy brush, you have to do a lot of work. Here’s what that process looks like:
